The untapped potential of the Smart TV revolution

Inspiration 22 May 2012 by SIM CITY

This tech year is definitely looking like it’s going to belong to Smart TV, as last year was the year of 3D TVs, this spring has seen a real push of Smart TVs, presumably for the euro championships and the London Olympics, with both LG and Samsung launching their flagship Smart TVs.

Both of which, really exploring the possibilities of how to interact with our TVs in our living rooms. The LG showing the Hollywood feature of being able to simply flick video from your tablet onto your TV, and the Samsung really exploring gesture control with a swipe of the hand switch channels and change volume. These are all fantastic examples of what the future has in-store for this technology, which is available today.

But, they’ve only just touched the surface, and haven’t even begun to really explore what is possible on a consumer level, in particular looking into what could be brought into people’s lives and living rooms, extending their relationship with television even further. And this is what I’m really looking forward to seeing.

Just think of what could be done with this new platform, and with Apples answer to this Smart TV revolution imminent, it will be great to see what they will produce. Time to accept the newest addition into the Smart family, because they are here to stay.
